Agelin Bodybalance® provides 15 g of Bodybalance® quality hydrolysed collagen - bioactive collagen peptides (BCP) - per sachet. Bodybalance® collagen undergoes a hydrolysis process to form smaller molecules (peptides) that are easily absorbed and assimilated by the body.
Collagen is a ubiquitous protein and an essential constituent of many structures within our bodies: muscles, cartilage, bones and skin. Although the starting material used to produce the bioactive peptides that make up Agelin is still Collagen, unlike the large, whole protein, the peptides are relatively small molecules, characterised by a molecular weight of less than 10,000 g/mol, and excellent solubility in cold water, and even in highly concentrated solutions they do not form a gel.
These special collagen protein hydrolysates are developed by the prestigious company GELITA, a world leader in collagen production.
What are the main characteristics of the bioactive collagen peptides that make up Agelin Bodybalance® ?
BCPs boast extraordinary bioavailability, which makes oral intake extremely efficient and effective. Indeed, peptides are rapidly absorbed in the small intestine, an essential step especially during post-exercise recovery. The exact mechanism of action of the selected Bodybalance® collagen hydrolysates is still under investigation, but current research has also shown that BCPs act as functional muscle units and take part in metabolic processes. More specifically, to confirm its efficacy, several interesting studies have shown that Bodybalance® has a potentiating effect when taken in conjunction with constant exercise.
BCP intake also directly stimulates the metabolism of the target connective tissue cells involved in collagen biosynthesis. This is very important for two specific processes: counteracting sarcopenia and achieving an ideal body composition.
How do Bodybalance® bioactive collagen peptides (BCPs) stimulate muscle and fat metabolism?
Bodybalance® has a specific composition of bioactive collagen peptides (BCP) derived from collagen protein that has been hydrolysed to create smaller peptides that are more easily absorbed and utilised by the body.
Studies have shown that BCPs can stimulate the metabolism of connective tissue cells, particularly those involved in collagen biosynthesis. This stimulation occurs through the activation of a signalling pathway called the mTOR pathway, which is responsible for regulating protein synthesis.
In addition to stimulating muscle metabolism, Bodybalance® is able to influence fat metabolism by activating an enzyme called AMPK. AMPK plays a critical role in energy transfer within cells and its stimulation allows increased fatty acid metabolism, thereby providing more energy to the cells and reducing the amount of body fat.
Overall, the specific composition and excellent bioavailability of Bodybalance® make it a powerful supplement for improving body composition, by stimulating both muscle and fat metabolism.
